Hunas Falls: A Brief Background
Hunas Falls, also known as Hunnasgiriya Falls, derives its name from the nearby Hunnasgiriya Mountain, which occupies the southern region of the infamous Knuckles Mountain Range. Although the falls are fed by streams originating in the surrounding hills, the waterfall is man-made, branching into several streams during rainfall.

Best Times to Visit
Unlike most outdoor destinations in Sri Lanka, the ideal time to visit Hunas Falls or any waterfalls near Kandy is during the monsoon season, between May and September. During these months, the water flow is at its peak, creating a spectacular display. However, visitors should check weather conditions as heavy rains can make the trails slippery.

Getting to the Falls
Hunas Falls is located approximately 25 kilometres from Kandy in the central highlands of Sri Lanka.
