Wild Life of Bali

One of Indonesia’s 34 provinces, Bali is an area that has a few islands and also houses the isle of Bali. It is nicknamed as the ‘Island of Peace’, ‘Morning of the World’, Island of Gods’ and also the ‘Island of Love respectively. It lies to the west of the Wallace line and therefore this factor makes this area have Asian fauna which has a little bit of the Australasian influence.

This popular tourist destination is home to a number of wildlife such as the yellow crested cuckoo which is a member of the Australasian group. This bird has a species of about 280, in which the list includes the endangered Bali starling, which is endemic. When travelling within the region check out the Temple of Bats, or otherwise referred known as Gua Lawah. They are creatures worshipped here by the locals. This is a major tourist attraction for visitors from around the world. Apart from the Temple of Bats, the bats phenomena are also found in two other cave temples, such as the Gangga Beach. Another unique form of wildlife is the monkeys! A communal favourite is the crab-eating macaque, which is commonly referred to as ‘kera.’ These monkeys love to be fed by the visitors and interact with them. If you love monkeys or wildlife in general, visit one of the three monkey temples in the Ubud area. Endemic monkeys can be seen at the Bali Barat National Park and are born orange in colour.

When in the area do not forget to catch a glimpse of the sunda pangolin, leopard cat, and the black giant squirrel. Apart from that the king cobra and the python can also be found here. It is truly a place that is streaming with wildlife of all sorts. There are also endemic plants that you might want to check out if you are feeling up to it. When staying here look for a luxury resort in Bali for the ultimate experience. Find a resort in Nusa Dua such as the Westin Resort Nusa Dua Bali for a unique experience. Bali is situated in the same equatorial line as Hawaii and therefore the climate and atmosphere are made for a paradise getaway!
